Nobody at the Fish in Portland, OR ever met Ryan.  Even so, his story touched all of us, and by your emails and calls we know it touched you as well.

The first we heard of Ryan was when his Mother called the station asking for a song she had heard - You Raise Me Up, by Selah.  She wanted it for her son's funeral.  He had died on Easter Sunday.  Due to technical problems (or was it divine intervention?) in the new Fish studios, the conversation went out over the air and our listeners became involved.

It turned out that Ryan had cerebral palsy, had out-lived all expectations and predictions and been a joy to hundreds of people.  He was a wonderful child who his Mother told me did two things - Pray and Sing - all the time.

You wanted to know more about Ryan, and specifically, you wanted to put a face with the name.  So here are some pictures from Ryan's Mom, Mari.

Ryan's story is now a book.  Click here to find out about getting a copy of "When A Mother Cries."
